Losing Battle

I fought the mind and the mind won. Too much citta vrtti today. I started out ok, but I have so many things going on right now I just couldn’t keep the mind clear. I made it through standing before I went into headstand for a while, hoping I could flush the mind out… mmm…not so much. Although my practice wasn’t ideal, I’m still noticing some positive changes in my attitude towards it. There seems to be a patience and a level of thoughtfulness that I haven’t noticed previously. I’ve been working towards a surrender in my practice that’s a little hard for my ego but when I manage to do it there is a wonderful focus that I rarely get otherwise. I’m also really enjoying my pranayama practice, it’s something I feel like I’ve “put off” until now, but really, I don’t know if I would have been ready for it before now so maybe I just was waiting for the right time.
I seem to be having personal electrical issues, too. First my electric clippers were shorting out and every time they did the door bell would ring… How’s that for weird? Then my computer crapped out… for the first time. Then when I got it back it crapped out again. Apparently the CPU died, first time the technician had every seen that in however many years. Then my iPod got sick. I was able to restore it for our trip to Virginia but Monday morning, after several emails to iPod+HP support, my iPod was pronounced dead. Oh, and by the way, it’s warranty has expired so you’ll have to buy a new one. Yes, we realize you’ve only had it for just over a year but you’ll still need to drop another $300 for a new one, we don’t fix them.
Work is nuts, I’m trying to design three shows, engineer two and build a new class for next semester. I thought once the students left I would have lots of quiet time to work… Nope. Oh, well. At least I won’t be bored.
Oh, and we’re looking for a good honeymoon spot. Preferably somewhere with a spa, some yoga, and where we can get some good R&R. Oh, and somewhere that won’t get hit by a hurricane as our honeymoon will be in the middle of hurricane season. (other wise we were planning on Maya Tulum)

if neither of you have spent much time in seattle, i think you'd like it a lot. plenty of opportunities for breathtaking hikes, lots of spas, and perhaps most importantly (!) is the fact that david and catherine have an ashtanta shala there. i can personally attest to david's fantastic teaching abilities...hockey chick and i did mysore with him over thanksgiving.
